| Prior to today's grocery stores, the place where people bought household goods and supplies was the general store. They did not walk around and put items into shopping carts. Instead, a clerk would fill the order for the customer. For a while in the early 1900s, Long Lake had a canning factory, many of whose products were available in general stores, including canned raspberries.
