| This exhibit contains a cast iron stove, the perfect invention to illustrate Victorian mastery over design and function. It may seem hulky and cumbersome to modern people, but in its day it was a wonder. A very intricate and complex device. Not shown in the photo is an old refrigerator. The coldness of its interior came from a block of ice. The walls and doors were insulated with saw dust. It was like having a root cellar in the kitchen.
